Vivekananda Institute of Indian studies, (VIIS) an initiative of Swami Vivekananda Youth Movement (SVYM) hosted Sangeetha Sourabha a classical vocal music concert of devotional songs on recently.
Hosted by the young child prodigy Kum. Soorya Gayathri and her mentor Vidwan Kuldeep. M Pai, the ensemble took the audience to a spiritual journey of Ganesh, Shiva and Krishna Bhajans, the highlight among which was Hanuman Chalisa by Soorya Gayathri.
The programme was hosted to the international participants from Cornell University, Allegheny College, University of Iowa, Colorado College, Ley Moyne College, USA and Mt. Allison University, Canada.
Vivekananda Institute of Indian Studies has been offering customised courses for students across the globe to have a slice of India. It is also a single window for the volunteers, medical student electives and interns interested in working on various projects of SVYM.
VIIS also launched its new website and released its annual activity report for the year 2015-16. Advisors of VIIS, Dr Mysore Manjunathan eminent violinist, Prof Donna Ramil, Director, International programs, Cornell University Dr R. Balasubramaniam, Founder and President Swami Vivekananda Youth Movement and Ms Sindhu Suresh, Director VIIS were present.
