Legal News, National (Bengaluru), October 6:- All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK) leader V K Sasikala, who’s in prison for amassing disproportionate assets has been granted parole to meet her ailing husband who recently underwent dual organ transplant.
Sasikala had filled an emergency parole form and attached documents, including medical certificate of her ailing husband Natarajan, to make a fresh parole request to the authorities on Thursday.
She was granted parole on Friday. The emergency parole is for 5 days.
Sasikala had earlier on October 3 submitted a requisition for parole through her advocate. However, the application was rejected as it lacked essential documents and on the grounds that the advocate couldn’t write on her behalf.
Sasikala is serving jail term in Bengaluru since February after the Supreme Court upheld her conviction by a special court in a disproportionate assets (DA) case.
M Natarajan, husband of V K Sasikala, had undergone a dual organ transplant at Gleneagles Global Health City in Chennai. The 74-year-old chronic liver disease patient was stable after the seven-and-a-half hour kidney and liver transplant surgery that began late on Tuesday night, said a senior doctor at the Institute of Liver Diseases and Transplantation.
The organs came from Karthik N, 19, a daily wage earner admitted to a government hospital in Thanjavur with severe head injuries. He was flown to Chennai by a private air ambulance.
