Saudi Police foiled “Suicide attack” on Grand Mosque in Mecca

Prime News, International, Saudi Arabia, June 24:- A suicide attempt to target worshippers at Mecca-Islam’s holiest city was foiled by Saudi Police on June 23, it is reported.

According to police sources, the raids were conducted at early morning on Mecca and red city of Jeddah, the officers arrested five suspects including a woman, before surrounding Grand mosques bomber location.

The ministry spokesman General Mansour al-Turki said, the suicide bomber starts shooting towards security personnel, in retaliation the police also fired, the bomber blew himself up injuring six foreign pilgrims.

The ministry spokesman said, the bomber planned to blew himself around the grand mosque where thousands of worshippers gathered for afternoon Friday prayers.

Turki said, due to blast the building suffered partial damage, adding four injured person released from hospital and five security men also injured.

Since 2014 the Saudi Arabia was in ISIS radar who claims to carry out several bombing in the Kingdom. ISIS leader Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi has called for attack on Kingdom, which is member of coalition led by US to battle against the extremists in Syria and Iraq.
