Savitribai Phule’s birth anniversary observed in Mysuru

​Prime News, National, Karnataka, Education, Mysuru, January 4:- Jai Bhim Janaspandana Vedike celebrated Savitribai Phule’s birth anniversary at Karnataka Public School premises at Rajendranagar here on Tuesday (January 4).

The members of the organisation paid floral tributes to the portrait of Savitribai Phule and distributed sweets to children.

Speaking on the occasion, social thinker Siddaraju said “The Central government should honour Savitribai Phule with Bharat Ratna award on her 191st birth anniversary. A digital library should be established in every district to commemorate her legacy and to create awareness among young girls on courage, hard work and determination.”

Jai Bhim Janaspandana Vedike president Chethan Kantaraju said “Modern India’s first woman teacher is Savitribai Phule. She is the first person to establish schools to educate young Dalit children. She got married to Jyothiba Phule at the age of 9 and was later taught at home by her husband, to break the barrier of gender and caste oppression.”
