Mysuru, September 16:- “We can protect the environment by saying no to plastic. For that, public should also stop using plastic,” said the titular king Yaduveer Krishnadatta Chamaraja Wadiyar.
He was speaking at ‘anti-plastic’ event organised to mark World Ozone Day organised by the Department of Electronics and Communication of Vidyavardhaka Engineering College at BC Lingaiah Hall at Vijayanagar here on Monday.
“We are losing balance in the environment due to the selfishness of human beings. Water, air and soil are getting contaminated. Along with human beings, animals and birds are also facing the threat. We have to be careful to stop this. Certain plastics can be recycled, but some cannot. Central and state governments are also planning to ban plastic,” he added.
Environmentalist Prof UN Ravi Kumar, Gundappa Gowda of the education society, dean Dr DJ Ravi, P Vishwanath and others were present. (MR/KS)
