Mysuru, February 14:- “The Supreme Court has given a verdict that reservation is not a fundamental right. An application seeking reverification of the verdict should be submitted. We will stage a protest in Mysuru on Saturday seeking reverification,” said former minister Dr HC Mahadevappa at a press meet held at Congress office on JLB Road here on Friday.
“This verdict of the Supreme Court will cause a lot of problems. If the central government does not submit a re-verification application, we will stage a nationwide protest. Elections cannot be fought with money. If politicians with a criminal background get elected, it is dangerous for democracy. We welcome the verdict of the Supreme Court in this regard,” he added.
“The central government is trying to threaten people by registering a case against the school that staged a play on the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA). Congress will be with them. We are staging protest against CAA in 15 district centres,” he added.
Congress city president R Murthy, Congress rural president Dr BJ Vijay Kumar, Congress leader M Lakshman and others were present. (MR/KS)
