SC seeks rehabilitation plan for families in Karnataka forest case

Legal News, State, (New Delhi), August 18:-The Supreme Court on Friday heard the case related to removal of encroachments and rehabilitation of families from the three reserve forests in Karnataka.

The Karnataka government submitted a status report on the issue and informed the Court that another survey was done as per its order. It also told the Court that after the survey, 276 families had been given land for cultivation as per the state land grant rules. However, rehabilitation of 211 families was yet to be done, the government said.

The state government sought a timeframe of one year from the apex court for rehabilitating the remaining families.

The Court sought an affidavit explaining the action plan for rehabilitation of these families. The plan must clearly specify the time needed, it pointed out.
