Mysuru, May 20:- “Science has to be understood practically. There is no use by simply reading it,” said former vice-chancellor of the University of Mysore Prof J Shashidhar Prasad.
He was speaking after inaugurating a week-long science workshop for high school students organised by the Science Development Committee of Schools of the UoM at Vijnana Bhavan, Manasagangothri here on Monday.
“Science and technology complement each other. Science is something that is understood practically and it has a greater role to play in our lives,” he added.
“We need physics to do work. To know how much work has been done, we need mathematics. There are several problems including environmental pollution, water pollution and others which need to be solved,” said CDSS member Dr Bhagyalakshmi.
