Kannada can’t develop as a language just through speeches, it requires creativity, said senior writer Dr C P Krishnakumar.
He was speaking after inaugurating the Kannada rajyotsava celebrations jointly organised by Kannada Lekhaki Trust and Kannada Sangha along with Savigannada newspaper at Institute of Engineers’ auditorium on Sunday.
Dr Krishnakumar said that the current situation of Kannada language is horrid. “Even though there are many Kannada associations, the plight of our language has worsened. The main reason behind this is our love towards English language. English is fine as a language but not as a medium of communication. We need to keep in mind that Kannada is our mother tongue and hence should always respect it,” he said.
Meanwhile, a book titled ‘mathe bidda male’, written by journalist Ranganath Mysuru was released by Dr H N Manjuraj, Kannada professor, KR Nagar.
Prof Sa Na Gayathri, president, Kannada lekhaki trust, Dr H B Rajshekhar, senior writer Dr K Leelaprakash, Prof K Bhairavamurthy, writer and others were present.
