Segregate dry and wet wastes: Corporator

Mysuru, January 8:- Awareness campaign was held at Hosa Bandikeri in the city on separating wet and dry wastes. Corporator M V Ramaprasad visited houses and requested the inmates to separate wet and dry wastes while underscoring the importance of doing so.

“Everyday around 450 tonnes of wastes are collected in the City. Out of which, 250 tonnes are a wet waste and 200 tonnes are dry wastes. When both these wastes go together to Excel plant, it becomes very difficult for the workers to segregate the waste and it smells bad. If people separate wet and dry wastes at their houses itself, it will be very helpful for waste management. Tender holders should collect wet and dry wastes separately, which they are not doing,” Ramaprasad added.

Health officer Ramachandra, Purnachandra, DO Rudresh, Purnima, Sandeep, Bhanuprakash, V Manjunath, and others were present. (MR/KS).
