Mysuru, September 10:- The world-famous Mysuru Dasara is just a month away. Though it has been decided to downscale the celebrations in view of the Covid-19 pandemic, the preparation for what has been planned has already begun. Jamboo Savari that marks the end of Dasara on the last of the nine-day festivities will not be the same as earlier years as the number of elephants has been reduced to five.
The Forest Department has already begun the process of selecting elephants for the Dasara. Elephants at various camps are being tested for their fitness. Vikram, Gopi, Vijaya and Cauvery have already been shortlisted. Arjuna, which used to carry the idol of Goddess Chamundeshwari in a golden mantap, may be given a go. Abhimanyu is likely to get a nod, according to sources. (MR/KS)
