Mysuru, December 30:- Karnataka Brahmins’ Association observed the 31st memorial day of senior freedom fighter Tagaduru Ramachandra Rao who was also called as “Gandhi of Karnataka” at Tagaduru Ramachandra Rao Park at Chamundipuram here on Sunday.
“Ramachandra Rao was a follower of Mahatma Gandhi. He was inspired by the satyagraha of Mahatma Gandhi. He was arrested in 1928 for protesting against Simon Commission. He was the first political prisoner of Karnataka for fighting for freedom and rightly called Gandhi of Karnataka,” said corporator MV Ramaprasad.
Vishwanathaiah, Lokesh Rao, Mahesh, Kumar, Nandakumar, Ajith, Homma Manjunath, Gururaj and others were present. (MR/KS)
