Environmentalists and activists who have been fighting against the desilting of Kukkarahalli Lake have won their battle.
The expert committee constituted by the Karnataka Lake Conservation and Development Authority (KLCDA) has put brakes on the University of Mysore’s plan to desilt the water body. In the report submitted by the committee, it has said the water body doesn’t require desilting at all.
The two-member panel comprising a retired professor of IISc Rama Prasad and a retired chief engineer C N Babu has taken objection to the varsity’s move, saying it was not cleared by the KLCDA. – NGB
