The Mandi police on Thursday arrested seven persons for allegedly selling duplicate automobile spare parts of Bajaj Auto Limited brand.
The accused are Dilkush Kumar Dungrawal (36), owner of Sri Automobile, Gaurav Mittal (27) and Pavan Mittal(25) of Prathibha two wheeler spare parts, Mohammad Sharif (37) owner of Everest Auto parts, Muqbal (62) of MH Good Star Auto Parts and Rehan Taqi (35) of FS Auto World, which comes under Mandi Police station limits.
On receiving a complaint from C3I Consultant India Private limited, a team led by PSI Basavaraju raided five automobile shops and recovered auto parts.
Tight police security in the city on the eve of Karnataka bandh
As several organisations have called for bandh on September 9 over the Cauvery water distribution issue, police in the city have tightened the security from morning 5 am as safety measure.
Police Commissioner B Dayananda said “A special security will start at 5:30 am in the city. Besides, deploying the city police staff, the commissioner is drawing six platoons of Karnataka State Reserve Force and 11 City Armed Reserve Contingent for the duty. There will be a commando force and mounted police posted on vantage locations for crowd management. Police have reserved fire fighters and ambulances to attend the emergencies, if necessary.”
