With a great thought University of Mysore authorities have installed a statue of Sri Kuppali Venkatappa Puttappa, popularly known as Kuvempu, in front of the renovated main gate of University’s Mansagangotri campus on Bogadi (Ramavilas) road. With due respects they have planned to have the statue in sitting (in a chair) posture with a majestic look. However, officials forgot to provide a shade to this famous Kannada poet of the 20th century and first Kannda writer decorated with the prestigious Jnanapith Award. With increasing summer heat in current year and in the years to come, officials may plan for a shade either natural or artificial, to protect his statue from direct scorching Sun. As the statue is in jet black colour, it will absorb more heat especially during summer period, a shade is essential to have a long life for his statue.
