Shankaracharya and Ramanujacharya worked for the awareness of Hindu society: MLA Ramadass

Mysuru, April 29:- Adhyatmika Jagattu event was organised at the office of Mysuru Brahmins’ Association here on Tuesday to mark the birth anniversary of Shankaracharya and Ramanujacharya.

MLA S A Ramadass inaugurated the event by paying floral tributes to the images of Shankaracharya, Ramanujacharya and Madhvacharya.

“Everyone is observing Shankaracharya Jayanti. The contribution of Shankaracharya in the 8th century is immense for India. Though he lived only for 32 years, he travelled across the country thrice and established Advaita Vedanta. Shankaracharya and Ramanujacharya worked to create awareness in Hindu society when there were no modern means of communication,” he said.

“Religious practices are essential for a peaceful life. Temples and religious centres help us practice the rightful way of life. Peace of mind can’t be purchased at shops,” said BJP leader HV Rajeev.

District Brahmins’ Association president D T Prakash requested the government to observe Ramanujacharya Jayanti and Madhvacharya Jayanti like that of Shankaracharya Jayanti.

Gopal Rao, Corporator M V Ramaprasad, Apurva Suresh, Vikram Iyengar, Ajay Shastry, Kadakola Jagadish, Rakesh Bhat, Vinay Kanagal, Srikanth Kashyap and others were present. (MR/KS)
