Shankarsinh Veghela quits Congress

Prime News, Nation, New Delhi, July 21:- Former Gujrat Chief Minister Shankarsinh Vaghela formally announced that he has quit the Congress, alleging that he was not being allowed to put up a fight against the BJP.

Vaghela on his 77 birthday celebration rally at Gandhinagar declared that he has resigned as Leader of Opposition and added that he will also resign as Congress MLA after Rajya Sabha election.

Vaghela remarked after quitting ‘I am not a bonded labourer in any party, I am a free bird now’ said the former Congress leader. Vaghela in a shocking revelation said that the Congress had expelled him 24 hours ago fearing he may say something untoward during his birthday celebrations on July 21.

Vaghela was a BJP rebel who had merged his party his Rashtriya Janata Party (RJP) with the Congress 17 years ago. Vaghela further said that “People, who are complaining today, should have made good strategy then so that BJP must not have come to the power. But  the Congress’ small thinking and BJP’s luck gave the power to BJP,” Vaghela added.

Vaghela insists that he has no plans to retire from active politics at the moment and dismissed the rumours that he may join BJP which he quits long time ago.

Vaghela asserting his contribution to the party he served says that “I sent today’s PM (Narendra Modi) to the BJP working committee. I brought Anandiben Patel  former CM of Gujarat in politics. Introduction of RightTo Information (RTI) laws was my suggestion to bring transparency into the system,” he listed.

According to sources, Vaghela reportedly upset with the Congress for not having projected him as the chief ministerial candidate for Gujarat assembly polls. Vaghela’s demand was rejected by Congress high command fearing that it may upset the original Congressmen state party chief Bharatsinh Solanki and two former leaders of opposition in the assembly, Shaktisinh Gohil and Arjun Modhwadia.
