Siddaramaiah vows to defeat Yeddyurappa and Kumaraswamy in Assembly polls

Mysuru, April 6:- “If I campaign for one day in the constituency where Janata Dal (Secular) state president H D Kumaraswamy is contesting from, he will be defeated,” said Chief Minister Siddaramaiah.

Responding to Kumaraswamy’s statements on Siddaramaiah distributing money sitting at a resort, Siddaramaiah said, “Kumaraswamy may have done that. That’s why he is making baseless allegations against me. The family of HD Deve Gowda and BS Yeddyurappa all together tried to defeat me in the 2006 by-election. At that time former MP AH Vishwanath and BJP state vice president V Srinivas Prasad were with me. It is enough if I campaign at Kumaraswamy’s constituency for one day to defeat him. I will not contest from anywhere but from Chamundeshwari Constituency. Vishwanath and Prasad do not belong to Congress. It was not these persons, but the people of Chamundeshwari Constituency who made me win the election. It is crystal clear that Kumaraswamy will not win in the Assembly polls,” he said.

“I will defeat both Yeddyurappa and Kumaraswamy. I am sure that the people of Chamundeshwari Constituency will stand by me and I will win. I have campaigned here. This time also the people of the constituency will support me as they did in 2006 by-election,” Siddaramaiah added.

Kollegal MLA Jayanna, who is unlikely to get the party ticket this time met Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and held discussions.

More than 100 Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and JD(S) members joined Congress on the occasion. (KS, NGB)
