Former MLA Srinivasa Prasad, who quit Congress recently, organised a convention of his fans and followers today. The convention assumes significance as Prasad is expected to announce his next political move. The convention organised at the Vidyavardhaka ground saw thousands of Prasad followers converging on the venue.
The convention has been organised two weeks after the Congress’ convention held at Nanjanagud. Prasad is expected to give an answer to Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and Mysuru District In-charge Minister Dr H C Mahadevappa who they feel is playing dirty politics. Prior to the convention, younger brother of Prasad, Ramaswamy submitted his resignation to the Congress membership and attended the convention.
“This convention is very special for me. I am humbled by the love and respect that people have showered on me. You have elected me and gave me the power. I apologise to you for having resigned as an MLA due to unavoidable reasons,” said Prasad.
“I have been in politics since the days of Ramakrishna Hegade and other socialist leaders. I have contested and won against candidates backed by Devaraja Urs. Where was this Siddaramaiah then? Siddaramaiah is like Tughlaq. He has no idea about developmental governance,” he said.
Continuing his tirade against Siddaramaiah, he said it was Siddaramaiah who came to his doorstep asking for help to get elected from Varuna constituency. “He forgot all the support he received and tried to overthrow me.”
Former president of MUDA K R Mohan Kumar, Nanjangud city council president, Pushpalatha Kamalesh, former city council president Meenakshi ram, ZP member Subbanna, Taluk Panchayat president Mahadevappa and others were present on the occasion.
