Siddaramaiah’s Dalit comment taken out of context, says Dhurvanarayan

Prime News, Karnataka, Politics, Mysuru, November 6:- Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC) working president R Dhruvanarayan on Saturday (November 6) clarified that senior Congress leader Siddaramaiah has not said anything derogatory against the Dalit community.

Talking to reporters at Congress Bhavan on JLB Road here, he said, “Right from day one in politics, Siddarammaiah has fought for the welfare of Dalits, SC and ST communities and his contribution is historic. The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leaders have no moral right to talk about him. In the recent by-polls, they tried to misuse Dr B R Ambedkar’s name. In fact, these people are slaves of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS).”

Dhruvanarayan said, “If BJP has any respect for Dr Ambedkar, let them bring laws to help Dalits. When Siddaramaiah became the Chief Minister, he okayed Ambedkar Development Board and Maharshi Valmiki Development Board.  The Siddaramaiah government earmarked Rs 88,395 crore for the benefit of SC/ST communities.”

He said, “BJP is trying to mislead the Dalit community. If they think Dalits are not intelligent, they are mistaken. BJP is not worried about the development. Their main job is to create a wedge between communities. All the communities are in support of Congress and the BJP wants to break it. Siddaramaiah tried to criticise one person and BJP is trying to make it a big issue.”

The Congress leader said, “BJP is trying to split the society on the basis of caste. They are busy doing caste-based politics for the sake of votes. Congress is against such practice as they are secular in their approach.”

Congress city president R Murthy, Congress district president Dr B J Vijaykumar, former MLA Kalale Keshavamurthy, leaders H A Venkatesh, Ayub Khan, Basavaraj and others were present. (MR/GK)
