Senior theatre activist Vijaya Sindhuvalli was conferred with Ubburu U T Shamayyagowda theatre award and senior Yakshagana artiste B Ganapathi was conferred with Ubburu Kamalamma Shyamgowda award recently in Mysuru.
A programme organised by Ranga Panatha Ubburu (Rampavu) organisation as part of its decennial celebrations at Kalamandir, wildlife expert Kripakar Senani and actor Rangayana Raghu gave away the awards.
Speaking on the occasion, Rangayana Raghu said that today children are forgetting their parents. “Hi-tech orphanages and old age homes are causing a distance between children and their parents. At this point of time, awards in the name of their parents being presented is a welcome move,” he said.
Speaking after receiving the award, Ganapathi called upon people to preserve the art of Yakshagana and other art forms for the future generations to come.
Rampavu president U S Ramanna, secretary D Thippanna and others were present.
