Mysuru, April 8:- Playback singer Vijay Prakash’s father Karnataka Kalasri L Ramasesha passed away here on Sunday. He was 72.
One of the most celebrated Carnatic classical vocalists of Mysuru, his musical journey started at the age of 10. Born in a family of legendary artistes, the music came to him naturally. With a profound and mellifluous voice, he added grandeur to Bharatanatyam concerts of some of the legendary dancers. Clear and crisp diction, immense command over laya, literature and soulful singing, he made an unparalleled impact on the connoisseurs of music. He performed extensively in India and abroad.
Ramasesha’s wife Lopamudra is also a vocalist. Both of his sons and daughters-in-law are also into the field of music, dance and theatre.
One of the most celebrated and well-known playback singers, Vijay Prakash is his younger son and a disciple too. The field of music and dance deeply mourns the death of Ramasesha. Music is eternal, so is his voice. Truly the music world of Mysuru has lost one of its last gems of that glorious generation. (MR)
