“A single tax model across the country will be beneficial if Goods and Service Tax (GST) is implemented,” said Joint Commissioner, Commercial Tax (Enforcement), B N Giriyannanavar here on Wednesday.
He was speaking after inaugurating the workshop on Goods and Services Tax organised by Tax Consultants’ Association of India at Rajendra Kala mantap on MG road.
Addressing the gathering, he said, “In the whole world, there are more than 150 GST countries, both developed and undeveloped, but in India, 16 states are still to get an approval in the Lok Sabha. Hopefully, it will be implemented during 2017. Tax payers’ problems will be solved within seven days after filing a written complaint by them as there will be transparency in transaction in GST. Business class will be benefitted more and there will be no sales tax also. And the tax defaulters cannot escape in this system.”
Sai Prasad, a Charted Accountant, who was the guest on the occasion, said that government will be benefitted due to GST as its revenue, both in exports and imports, will increase and markets across the country will be nationalised.
