Sinister design behind drug mafia in India: ABVP

Mysuru, September 3:- Akhila Bharatiya Vidhyarthi Parishat (ABVP) on Thursday (September 3) said there is a sinister design behind drug mafia in the country. Such dealers, it said, should be treated as traitors.

At a protest organised near the deputy commissioner’s (DC) office here, the protesters said, “Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) has unearthed the link between Sandalwood and the drug mafia. Many influential people, cinema stars and politicians’ sons are allegedly involved in drug abuse. People who should be role models to society are involved in such acts. To weed out the drug menace from the country, central and state governments need to work overtime. The state government should formulate stringent laws to protect the youths.”

The protesters said, “Drug mafia is operating using code words. Many college students are getting addicted to drugs, which in a way, has become a fashion. Parents should wake up and keep an eye on their children. The police need to hasten up their investigation and unravel the mystery behind drug mafia. The Home Department should be given a free hand to book the culprits.

ABVP’s state additional secretary Sriram, block convener Rakesh, city’s organising secretary Sharath, Chiranth, Pragna, Rachana, Nagashree, Prasanna, Suhas, Mallappa and others were present. (MR/KS)
