Six-day landscape painting exhibition begins

A collection of landscape paintings by budding artist Murali V M is on display at the Ravivarma Art Institute in the city.

The exhibition opened on Saturday and senior artist N B Kaverappa and Principal of Ravivarma Art Institute Shivakumar Kesaramadu graced the occasion.

The exhibition invites viewers to see the beauty of landscapes. The paintings express the sense of openness and magnificence. There are 38 paintings that display the theme and promises to take the viewer into a different world altogether.

The paintings range from city and village landscapes and some of them capture the beauty of Malnad, its thatched structures, open space and the hidden nature made with water colour.

The exhibition has been organised by Murali in association with Ravivarma Art Institute and Kannada and Cultural Department.

Speaking to City Today, Murali said: “I have chosen landscape painting since it gives openness to an artist to explore new things. The water coloured layered paintings give a sense of movement, energy and dynamism. All the landscapes depict the view of a particular place or time that I have visualised.”

“All these paintings are about an artist going out into nature and looking at the outer world around him and making note on a canvas,” he added. The exhibition is open till July 15.
