Six flights from Mysuru; runway expansion work to begin soon: MP Simha

Centre sanctions Rs 700 crore to expand Mandakalli Airport runway, says Pratap Simha

Mysuru, January 9:- The central government has approved economy airline service from Mysuru to five major cities under the Udaan-III Scheme.

Six flights will be operational from Mandakalli Airport here. The air service is provided to Belagavi, Hyderabad (two flights), Panaji, Kochi and Bengaluru. The Civil Aviation Ministry is planning to provide this service under Udaan Scheme. The date and flight schedule will be released soon. More air connectivity was requested to the Union Civil Aviation Ministry from the heritage city of Mysuru. But as the length of the airport runway is small, no other flight is able to land other than ATR. The central government has sanctioned Rs 700 crore for expansion of runway. The work will begin soon” said Mysuru- Kodagu Member of Parliament Pratap Simha.

A 72-seat TruJet aircraft with affordable price, which already operates on the Mysuru route, has received a good response from the people. (KS, NGB)
