The valedictory function of six-month tailoring training course for women was held on Friday at Nagarle village in Nanjangud taluk under the joint auspices of JSS Women’s Polytechnic, Mysuru and ICAR JSS Krishi Vignana Kendra, Suttur.
Nagarle Gram Panchyat (GP) President G M Kumaraswamy who inaugurated the valedictory address programme, said that the women who have completed the course in tailoring can become financially independent.
Nethravathi Yettinamani, scientist of ICAR JSS Krishi Vignana Kendra, said that courses like tailoring generate self-employment and an individual or a group of persons may join together in launching a start-up.
Speaking on the occasion, another scientist Divya H V said that the women who completed their training in tailoring may join textiles industries in neighbouring towns and cities or start their own tailoring units at home.
Rajanna of JSS Women’s Polytechnic, Mysuru, emphasised that the women who underwent training in tailoring course can be self-employed by securing loans from banks. Twenty women who completed their tailoring course were awarded certificates.
Mangalamma of Nagarle village, GP development officer Yathiraj, trainer S G Nagu, Nazia Ismail and Anganwadi workers were present.
