SJCE students clinch TCS TechBytes state finals

Samarth M and Shrinidhi Kulkarni emerged victors among the six finalists who battled it out at the state finals conducted on March 15 at SJB Institute of Technology, Bengaluru.

Students from Sri Jayachamarajendra College of Engineering, Mysuru, have won the seventh edition of the state-level Engineering IT Quiz – TCS Tech Bytes.

The quiz is conducted every year by Tata Consultancy Services (TCS), a leading IT services, consulting and business solutions organisation, and the Board for IT Education Standards (BITES), an autonomous agency promoted by Government of Karnataka in association with IT industries.

The objective of the event was to enhance IT awareness among students and enable them to compete in the fast-paced technology-intensive industry.

The quiz garnered a huge response, with engineering colleges across Karnataka participating in large numbers in the Regional Finals conducted at Kalaburgi, Dharwad, Tumakuru, Mysuru, Bengaluru and Mangaluru.

The six Regional Finalists who qualified for the state finals were: Samarth M and Shrinidhi Kulkarni – Sri Jayachamarajendra College of Engineering, Mysuru, Kaushik S Kalmadi and Swastik Udupa – NITK, Surathkal, Sameer Desai and Rajnarayan Dutta, NITTE Meenakshi Institute of Technology, Bengaluru, Prasanna Joshi and Hrishikesh Malagi – Basweshwara Engineering College, Bagalkot, Ankit Pursottam Bagaria and Sagar Ramnath Jayswal, Bheemanna Khandre College of Engineering, Gulbarga and Abhishek Krishna, and Anthony Paul, RV College of Engineering, Bengaluru.

These six finalists battled it out at the State Finals conducted on 15th March at SJB Institute of Technology, Bengaluru.

The quiz was based on the theme of Digital Marketing and its significance in present times. The animation based quiz format had the following five rounds – Landing Page, Search Engine Optimisation, Higher Per Hit, Going Viral and Net Worth. Each of the rounds tested the students spectrum of knowledge in the IT sphere.

After an intense battle of minds among the budding engineers, Samarth M and ShriNidhi Kulkarni, Shri Jayachamarajendra College of Engineering, Mysore emerged Winners, followed by Abhishek Krishna, & Anthony Paul, RV College of Engineering, Bengaluru as the runners-up.

The State Winners received a glittering trophy, TCS educational scholarship of Rs 75,000 and the runners-up received an educational scholarship of Rs 40,000. Both the teams received a host of electronic items as gifts.

The prizes were distributed by Nagaraj Ijari – VP & Head TCS Bengaluru Operations and Dr Suresh Ramaswamy Reddy – Executive Director – BITES. The event was graced by E S Chakravarthy – Centre Head, TCS Bengaluru and Dr Nataraj, Principal In-charge, SJB Institute of Technology, Bengaluru.
