Sri Jayachamarajendra College of Engineering (SJCE) will be converted into a university and will be called as JSS Science and Technology University from this academic year.
SJCE was established in 1963. It began with three engineering branches, today the institution has 12 functioning branches. From this August, the 12 undergraduate engineering courses and 16 postgraduate courses, including M Phil, MBA and MCA, will function under the university, said Syed Shakeeb ur Rahman, principal of the college. After the conversion into a university, authorities have planned programmes, which includes signing of MoUs with more foreign universities.
JSS Science and Technology University will be the fifth university in Mysuru after University of Mysore, Karnataka State Open University, JSS University and Music University.
