Skill development programme held at GSSSIETW

Mysuru: The Department of Electronics & Instrumentation Engineering, GSSSIETW, Mysuru had organised a three-day skill development program on “Basics of Process Instrumentation” at Seimens Centre of Excellence, GT&TC, Mysuru for the IV semester students of EIE from April 22 to 24 under Instrument Society of India (ISOI) Student Chapter.
Jain Jos was the resource person for this three-day skill development program. The program was conducted for enhancing the practical knowledge of the students and for providing the hands-on experience of the industrial sensors and field instruments.

During the sessions, he highlighted the process control systems and various sensors used in industries for measuring the process parameters. The major topics covered during the session were basics of process instrumentation, field instruments temperature measurement, level measurement, flow measurements, and different categories of the sensors for measurement.

During the training, students got hands-on experience by working with different industrial sensors for temperature and level measurement and also learnt about the configuration of sensors and communication protocols used for transmitting the data to the PC. He also highlighted the technical skills that the students have to acquire to be industry ready.

Three-day workshop on “IoT with Python” for 6th-semester students began yesterday.
Gowthamraj, Senior Application Engineer, Enthu Technology, Bengaluru is the main resource person for this event. The main motto of organising this workshop is to upgrade the students to the latest technology like Internet of Things (IoT) and also it impacts on choosing their final year projects, to work on real-time embedded system development and for their upcoming placement drives.
During these three days, students will focus on python programming, digital sensor interfacing with the Raspberry Pi3 (System on Chip-SoC) and processing the sensed data with python programme. Hands-on session on Data collection and visualization for real-time systems, open source IoT cloud and end devices, real-time data monitoring application development and MQTT based application development are some of the major sessions covered during these three days.
