Former Chief Minister S M Krishna will join the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), said state BJP president and former Chief Minister B S Yeddyurappa.
Speaking to media persons in Bengaluru on Saturday, Yeddyurappa said, “The veteran Congress leader Krishna has decided to join the BJP without any doubt.” Krishna, who quit the Congress last month, saying the party did not need him and sidelined him, had resigned from the Congress’ primary membership. Various Congress leaders were surprised with his move and a few Congress leaders even tried to persuade him to reconsider his decision. But now with the statement of Yeddyurappa, all eyes are on Krishna and are waiting for his move.
A couple of months ago, senior Congress leader Srinivas Prasad too had quit the Congress and joined BJP and is contesting for the Nanjangud constituency by-election. With senior Congress leaders joining the saffron fold, the ruling Congress and the party high command are worried over the 2018 assembly elections.
