Snake Shyam catches 32,000 snakes; sets new record

Corporator and amateur conservationist M S Balasubramaniam, popularly known as ‘Snake Shyam’ in the city, has recorded his 32,000 catch since he started keeping a count of the number of snakes caught and rescued by him since 1997.

Snake Shyam has been catching poisonous snakes since 1980. He catches venomous snakes of any type effortlessly and later leaves them in the forest areas. On Thursday, Snake Shyam received a call from one Sharif, a resident of Rajivnagar first stage in the city and immediately rushed to the spot and caught the hidden snake in the house. Later, he released the snake into the nearby forest area.
