Social justice has become a tool in the hand of power holders: Senior scribe D Umapathy

Mysuru, July 30:- “The social justice, which was intended to bring equality for all in the society has become a tool in the hands of power holders,” said senior journalist D Umapathy here on Monday.

He was speaking at a seminar on ‘The victory and defeat of social justice’ held at Rani Bahadur Hall to mark the second death anniversary of Rakesh Siddaramaiah, the eldest son of former chief minister Siddaramaiah.

“The powers that have used Rama Mandir construction, Babri mosque demolition against social justice are changing their plans with time. They have understood that Kamandala only is not enough to achieve their wishes and now they have planned to seize mandala as well. Dr B R Ambedkar was always against the agenda of Hindutva throughout his life.  Ambedkar didn’t prefix or suffix his name with his father’s name. He was writing his name as B R Ambedkar and didn’t write Ram Ji, his father’s name unless it was necessary. Now the communal powers are rewriting his name along with Ram. They are garlanding the statues of Dr B R Ambedkar, the only icon of the Dalits, with slippers. His character is being defamed over the years,” the journalist added.

Floral tributes were paid to the portrait of Rakesh Siddaramaiah on the occasion.

Writer Indudhar Honnapur, Prof Mahesh Chandra Guru, former minister C H Vijay Shankar, Prof Kalegowda Nagavara, president of Karnataka Hindulida Vargagala Jagruta Vedike K S Shivaram, M Chandrashekhar of Kannada Sahitya Kalakuta and others were present. (MR/GK).
