Minister ST Somashekar collects food grains donated by Jayapura villagers

Mysuru, April 23:- Food grains and vegetables donated by Jayapura villagers were handed over to the government at Jayapura Village Panchayat office here on Thursday. The food grains and vegetables is being distributed to the needy people in view of the nationwide lockdown to contain spread of coronavirus.

District in-charge Minister ST Somashekar received the donations from the public in the form of food supplies. The villagers donated 9,000 kg of cabbage, 2,000 kg of sweet pumpkin, 1,000 kg banana, 1,000 kg tomato, 800 kg green chillies, 3,000 kg salt, 7,000 kg onions, 130 quintal rice, 1,000 kg wheat flour, 3,500 kg dal, and 100 kg ragi.

Kadakola Panchayat donated 25 quintal rice, Harohalli donated 5 quintal rice, Dhanagalli donated 30 quintal rice, Beerihundi donated 10 quintal rice, Belavadi donated 5 quintal rice, Koorgalli donated 10 quintal rice, Ananduru donated 6 quintal rice, Elavala donated 3 quintal rice, Bogadi donated 10 quintal rice, Alanahalli donated 10 quintal rice, Hosahundi donated 8 quintal rice, Gopalapura donated 12 quintal rice. A sum of 145 quintal rice was collected from all these panchayats.

MLA and former minister GT Devegowda, MCDCC Bank president G D Harish Gowda, Deputy Commissioner Abhiram G Sankar, Superintendent of Police C B Ryshyanth and others were present. (MR/KS)
