Mysuru, July 4:- Superintendent of Police C B Ryshyanth has instructed a 7-day home quarantine for MLA of H D Kote, Anil Chikkamadu and some officials of H D Kote taluk.
Chikkamadu, tahsildar, police circle inspector and officials had taken part in a meeting ahead of Kempegowda Jayanti. The circle inspector who attended the meeting tested positive for coronavirus. As a measure of precaution, the SP has instructed the MLA, officials, five journalists and 20 police officials to be in home quarantine.
The SP has instructed everyone to stay at home till everyone’s report arrives. Chikkamadu insisted on home quarantine and is responding to people over the phone.
Jailbird tests positive
The number of coronavirus cases are rapidly increasing in Mysuru. Now the pandemic threat has entered Mysuru Central Prison as well.
A man who is in Mysuru jail on charges of murder has tested positive for coronavirus. An accused in Vijayanagar murder case, he was hiding in Bengaluru before surrendering to Vijayanagar Police.
The court had remanded him to judicial custody. After he was tested for the virus, it turned out to be positive. Twenty inmates who are his primary contacts have also been quarantined at the jail itself.
A cook at the residence of IGP of Southern Range, Vipul Kumar has also tested positive for coronavirus. He has been admitted to hospital for treatment. (MR/KS)
