“The study of literature unfurls the minds of the students. Pampa has proven the importance of non-violence in the 10th century with his works ‘Adi Purana’ and ‘Vikramarjuna Vijaya’. Even the Vachanas of 12th century stressed the importance of being good to others. The broader vision can be obtained only by studying the literature,” said Prof Morabada Mallikarjuna, former joint director, regional college education department, Mysuru.
He was speaking at the special lecture organised by the Department of Kannada on ‘The nature of Kannada literature study’ at Nataraja Women’s First Grade College yesterday.
