Tens of hundreds of Muslim brethren celebrated Eid-ul-Fitr with religious fervour by offering special prayers in various Idgahs and mosques in the city on Thursday at the end of Ramzan, the 30-day period of fasting. At the Tilak Nagar Idgah Maidan alone, more than 20,000 Muslims had assembled to offer prayers.
Sir Khazi of Mysore Hazrath Moulana Mohammed Usman Sheriff led pray ers at main Idgah Maidan at Tilak Nagar. Namaz-e-Eid-ul-Fitr was also held at various Masjids and Idgah Maidans of Rajivnagar and Ghousianagar.
In his address, Sir Khazi of Mysore Hazrath Moulana Mohammed Usman Sheriff stressed the significance of Ramzan during the holy month and appealed to the Muslim brethren to practice the good throughout their life. “Mysuru is a peace loving city and it is the duty of all of us to maintain communal harmony and respect all religions,” he said.
On the occasion, the religious leader said communal harmony was a greatest strength of India and it needed to be maintained for the welfare of the nation.
