Special pujas and bhajan

Special pujas and bhajans were conducted as part of Gurupoornima celebrations at Sri Ramakrishna Ashrama at Yadavagiri in city on Tuesday. Swami Muktidananda and several other swamjis along with devotees participated in the celebrations.

The Sanskrit word Guru itself means one who removes ignorance (Gu meaning ignorance and Ru means remover). The auspicious day is celebrated on the full moon day in the month of Ashadha according to the Hindu calendar. Guru Purnima is a day to pay ode to the selfless and matchless contributions of a Guru.

 In India, people often refer a popular Sanskrit phrase which lays emphasis on the position of a teacher in a student’s life.
