Sponsored students’ projects carried out in IoT laboratory of GSSSIETW

Mysuru, October 13:- The Department of Computer Science and Engineering, GSSSIETW, Mysuru, has established a ‘Smart Systems and Internet of Things Laboratory’ worth Rs 30 lakh sponsored by Vision Group on Science and Technology (VGST), Government of Karnataka, during the period 2016-2019. The outcome of the facilities created includes sponsored students projects by funding agencies like Karnataka State Council for Science and Technology (KSCST), Federation of Karnataka Chambers of Commerce & Industry (FKCCI), Free and Open Source Software Competitions (FOSS) and Avishkar Project Competitions of VTU, Belagavi. The department of CSE has received a sponsorship amount of Rs 44,500 in total, for innovative project development in the Smart Systems and IoT Laboratory from the above funding agencies during the academic year 2019-2020.
The project developed by Aishwarya C J,  Bhavana S, Chaithra M, Anusha R and guided by Dr Gururaj K S, , Department of CSE, was chosen as the Best Project at 43rd KSCST Student Project Competition in Computer Science and Engineering domain.

The project work “An IoT-based indoor air quality monitoring using indoor plants and machine learning” done by Rekha Seervi, Nisarga H S, Nithya P and guided by Dr S Meenakshi Sundaram, HoD, Department of CSE was selected for the final project presentation during the Manthan Business Idea Presentation Competition 2020, conducted by Federation of Karnataka Chambers of Commerce & Industry (FKCCI).

Six more sponsored projects carried out during the academic year 2019-2020 have been implemented successfully and working models of these projects are exhibited in the IoT laboratory. Faculty members of the institution also utilise the facilities available in the IoT laboratory for implementing students’ projects and carrying out research activities. The findings of the research/projects by faculty and students have been published in refereed journals /conferences. (MR)
