SR Patil anointed as KPCC working president to woo Lingayats in Karnataka

Prime News, Karnataka, Huballi, June 30:- In a calculated move the state Congress appointed SR Patil, a strong Lingayat leader as working president of KPCC to woo the Lingayat community in Karnataka.

The Chief Minister going beyond the ‘AHINDA’ vote bank, the Congress held a massive public function to anoint SR Patil as working president of Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee at Kudalasangama in Bagalkot District.

By announcing the appointment at a very important pilgrim centre for Lingayats, the Congress sent out a clear message to the community that what it has done to the Lingayat community.

Coupled with this event, the CM Siddaramaiahs earlier decision on having portraits of 12th-century social reformer Basavanna be installed on government offices in the state to reach out to the Lingayat community.

By supporting the demand of the community to have a separate status of a religion for Lingayat community, the CM targeting the voting base of the Lingayat community in the state.

To counter to the stature of Yeddyurappa as a Lingayat leader, the Congress appointing SR Patil as party chief, have enough credentials to take on BJPs Yeddyurappa.

According to political observers, targeting more on Yeddyurappa on the farm loan waiver issue than Modi, the Congress clearly devised the strategy ahead of 2018 state assembly election feels observers.
