The contribution of Sri Shivarathri Rajendra Mahaswamiji to improve education and Health in the Country is immense, hailed University of Mysore Registrar Prof. C Basavaraju on Friday.
Speaking after inaugurating the birth centenary celebrations of Dr. Sri Shivarathri Rajendra Mahaswamiji of Suttur Mutt organised by JSS College of Nursing jointly with JSS Institute of Speech and Hearing, JSS School of Physiotherapy and JSS School of Nursing at Sri Rajendra Centenary Hall.
Addressing the gathering he said that Education is the reflection of society. Shivarathri Rajendra Swamiji was a great visionary and took the initiative to impart free education. When we look at the programs conducted by JSS Mahavidyapeetha, they all aim at quality education, health service and mass feeding which are considered to be sacred of all deeds.
Further he said that after the introduction of Globalisation, Privatisation and Liberalisation, we have been exposed to many things but at the same time human values is deteriorating among the society. There is a sharp increase in the crime rate, harassment on women, disrespect. In my word, we have forgotten that we are humans in the race to survive. We are developing technology not human aspect of life. He underlined the need for each individual to come together irrespective of religion, caste, creed and gender for a healthy society.
An exhibition of postures portraying the life of Sri Shivarathri Rajendra Mahaswamiji at Sri Rajendra Bhavan and a play “Divyachethana’ on Life and achievement of the Swamiji staged by members of JSS Kalamantap at JSS Arts, Commerce and Ooty College were the main attraction of the programme.
Seer Sri Mallikarjuna Swamiji of Murughamutt, Dharwad, retired Kannada professor H V Veerabhadraiah, Secretary JSS Mahavidyapeetha S P Manjunath were present.
