Mysuru, March 11:- State secretary of Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC), Kyathanahalli C Nagaraj congratulated the state and central governments for adding Talavara and Parivara communities to Scheduled Tribe (ST) list.
“The Parivara and Talavara communities have a strong base in Mysuru, Chamarajanagar, Kodagu, Mandya and Hassan districts. It was their long-standing demand for ST tag. We thank the Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Ministers Arjun Munda, DV Sadananda Gowda, Pralhad Joshi, MP Anant Kumar Hegde, former prime ministers HD Deve Gowda and late Chandrashekar, seer Valmiki Prasannanandapuri of Rajanahalli Mutt, Chief Minister BS Yediyurappa and his cabinet, former chief ministers Siddaramaiah and HD Kumaraswamy, Health Minister B Sriramulu, Satish Jharkiholi, MPs Pratap Simha, Srinivas Prasad, former MP R Dhruvanarayan, MLA SA Ramadass and former MLA late Chikkamadu who fought for the cause. The community also remembers late Chikkamadu for his support,” he said at a press meet held at Mysuru Press Club on Tuesday.
He condemned BJP MLA Basanagouda Patil Yatnal for speaking lightly about Maharshi Valmiki in the Assembly. (MR/KS)
