The state and central governments have miserably failed to address the drought situation in Karnataka, said JD(S) state president H D Kumaraswamy, here on Friday.
He was speaking at Koppa Gate while visiting Kodagu dsitrict.
Zilla Panchayat member Rajendra and party cadre accorded Kumaraswamy a grand welcome. The former chief minister garlanded the statue of Cauvery and offered pooja.
Kumaraswamy said, “Both national parties, BJP and the Congress, have completely ignored the problems of the state. When the issues of the state are put forth before the central government, they completely sideline the issues. The people of Karnataka have understood the need of a regional party for Karnataka and will teach the national parties a lesson in the coming Assembly elections.”
“The people of the state are demanding to waive the loans waive of farmers, but the chief minister wants the central government to waive off the loans given by the nationalised banks. Siddaramaiah is giving invalid reasons and wasting time, by now he should have acted. Every day 5-6 farmers are committing suicide in the state. Central government is blind towards the plight of Karnataka. Youth are deprived of job opportunities. Owing to all these issues, people are hoping for a regional party to form the government. JD(S) will not have any coalition in the Assembly elections and will contest on our own. We hope that the party will form government on its own,” he added.
“There are no internal problems for the party in Kodagu. JD(S) has an upper hand in the two constituencies in the district. We will win those two constituencies and strengthen the party in the district,” Kumaraswamy said.
