State farmers to protest in Bengaluru tomorrow: Kuruburu Shanthakumar

Prime News, Karnataka, Farmers, Mysuru, January 23: In support of the massive rally planned by the farmers all over India on Tuesday (January 26), farmers from Karnataka will be holding a similar rally all over the state, said State Sugarcane Growers’ Association president Kuruburu Shanthakumar here on Monday (January 25).

In his media release said, “The farmers’ unions are ready for the rally. Tractors, lorries, bikes and jeeps from different parts of the state will arrive in Bengaluru around 12 noon.  Karnataka Rajya Raitha Sangha (KRRS), Hasiru Sene, Dalit organisations and labour unions have expressed their support for the rally. We are expecting around 25,000 farmers to converge on Bengaluru tomorrow.”

Shanthakumar said, “It will be a symbolic protest by us. The proposed trip to New Delhi has been cancelled. The rally will be in support of the protesting farmers in New Delhi who have been protesting for the last 56 days. The rally will start soon after the Republic Day function. We have appealed to everyone for a peaceful protest.”

The farmer leader added, “The Centre has held talks with farmers for 10 times but nothing has materialised so far. Unless the central government repeals all the farm laws, the protest will not stop. We are planning a peaceful protest and if there is anything untoward, the police and the state government will be responsible.” (MR/KS)
