State govt should make its stance clear on reservation row: BJP MP V Srinivas Prasad

BJP govt in Karnataka lacks leadership, says Srinivas Prasad

Prime News, Karnataka, Quota, Mysuru, February 26:- Reacting to the demands by various communities for reservation, the Bharatiya Janata Party Member of Parliament from Chamarajanagar, V Srinivas Prasad on Friday (February 26) expressed disappointment that there is no clarity on the part of the state government.

Talking to reporters, he said, “Every community wants to show its strength, demanding reservation. The state government has never said it has no powers under the Constitution. It is the Centre which has to take the final call.”

Prasad said, “Have a detailed discussion and form a committee on the reservation demand. At best, they can forward the committee’s recommendations to the Centre. The state government should make it clear to the protesters. Chief Minister B S Yediyurappa should firmly say what his position is. All the demands should be discussed in the state Cabinet to see if there is a solution.”

He said, “The BJP government came to power two years back and there is a lack of leadership. Have they ever thought about which community should be given representation? These developments are not good in the interest of the party.”

Prasad said, “The entire country is in trouble because of the coronavirus pandemic. Farmers are on a long protest. Trusting Prime Minister Narendra Modi, people voted BJP to power for the second time. We need to protect their trust.”

Reacting to the rumours that protest for reservation is politically-motivated, he said, ”If it is so, the Chief Minister should reveal it. The whole issue should be discussed in the party’s core committee. We are struggling because there is no clarity.”

On the just-concluded Mysuru mayoral polls, Prasad opined it is their internal affair and I would not want to comment on that. ”The opposition is done and dusted and you should know where they stand now.” (MR/KS)
