Karnataka State Sugarcane Growers’ Association and Central Food Technology and Research Institute (CFTRI) will organise a state-level farmers’ convention at Kalamandir in city on July 5.
Addressing press persons here on Sunday, association state president Kuruburu Shantha Kumar said that the convention will address the issues of farmers and cultivators.
NITI Aayog CEO Amitabh Kant will inaugurate the convention, CFTRI, Director Dr Ram Rajasekharan and Karnataka State Agriculture Price Commission, Chairman T N Prakash Kammaradi will be the chief guests and they will speak about support price for agriculture products. About 2,000 farmers from across the state will participate, he added.
In the present situation there is no proper scientific support price for the sugarcane and paddy. There is no evaluation on the expenses of the sugarcane and paddy cultivation.
Shantha Kumar further said that the Centre has not included the sugarcane and silk commercial crops in the Pradan Manthri Fasal Bhima Scheme. State farmers are demanding inclusion of both in the scheme, he added.
