Milking competition: Bengalurean emerges winner    

Laxman Hogebandi of Bengaluru emerged winner, milking 36.5 kg of milk in 40 minutes in the annual state-level cow milking competition conducted by the Gopalakara Sangha, Mysuru, in association with the Department of Animal Husbandry at the JK Grounds on Thursday.

The event was organised in memory of late actor Toogudeepa Srinivas, father of actor Darshan Toogudeepa.

Out of 16 entries in the contest, the participants, mostly from Bengaluru, Mysuru, Mandya and Hassan, came along with their cows for the competition.

While Anand of Bannur bagged second prize for milking 34.200 kg, Druvit V Druvakumar, with 31.450 kg, secured third prize.

The event was been held to encourage milkmen. About 25 staff members of the Department of Animal Husbandry gave technical support to the event. Most of the cows that took part in the event were of the Holstein Friesians breed.
