Distribution of prasadam at temples during Ashada month is prohibited, says DC

Mysuru, June 19:- Deputy Commissioner Abhiram G Sankar held a press meet ahead of International Day of Yoga on June 21 at his office in the city on Friday.

“Yoga day was being observed with a large number of people every year. But the coronavirus pandemic has an impact on the event this year and the event is being observed with the tagline  ‘Yoga at home.’ Mass yoga event is called off this year due to the fear of virus spread,” he added.

“Perform yoga to observe the International Day of Yoga from 7 am to 7:45 am. The event will be observed in association with Mysuru Yoga Federation, GSS Yoga Foundation, Patanjali Yoga Institution, Mysuru Yoga Okkoota, Mysuru Yoga Sports Foundation, Baba Ramdev Patanjali Yoga Shikshana Samiti. Those who will create awareness on social media will also be provided with certificates,” he added.

“As coronavirus scare is increasing, the distribution of prasadam at temples is prohibited. No temple in the district has permission to distribute prasadam during the Ashada month. People are urging us to prohibit entry to Chamundi Hills on Tuesdays during Ashada month. Some are asking to prohibit public entry to hills throughout Ashada month. We are discussing the possibilities and will take a decision later,” he said.
