An awareness programme to draw attention of the public on the dangers of depositing and availing loan from unauthorised institutions and finance was held on Tuesday.
The Reserve Bank of India in association with Mysuru District administration and Karnataka State police organised a unique Yakshagana and street play to caution people against unauthorised financial institutions.
A unique street and Yakshagana depicting the causes of depositing in unregistered companies was staged in front of the Chikkagadiyara. Hundreds of people assembled near Chikkagadiyara and were advised to deposit money only in banks and entities that are recognised by the RBI and the government.
Pamphlets were distributed to people and were told not to get carried away by the promises of higher rate of interest and urged them to invest their hard- earned money after thorough verification of the background of the financial institution.
The artistes through the street play told people not to get cheated by chit fund schemes and false promises made by unregistered companies.
The organisers advised people to inform the nearest police station against the unauthorised and unregistered financial companies or to call toll free no- 1800-2667575.
