Mysuru, December 17:- “Today’s students lack values and discipline in life and it has to be cultivated among them,” said the Vice Chancellor of University of Mysore (UoM) Prof G Hemanth Kumar.
He was speaking at a one day workshop for NSS officers of UoM held at NSS Bhavan here on Saturday.
“Students have to be taught discipline and values. Along with giving them education, they should be made aware of culture. Teaching alone is not enough. By teaching alone, teachers won’t be contributing anything to society. Our nation needs NSS and NCC like programmes. Only 10 universities in India have NAAC grade of above 3.5. Sixteen universities are below 3.4. Going forward, any university should be an all-rounder,” he added.
